Introduction of Mechanical Engineering

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KCNIT,BANDA. The Department has highly qualified and experienced faculty members. Most of them have Ph.D./M.Tech. from the reputed institute like IIT’s, NIT’s, and reputed universities having expertise in the area of Fluid, Thermal, Design, CAD, Production, and Industrial engineering etc. The department has the capacity to take 30 students each year. Department consists of the well-equipped lab, highly qualified and skilled instructors. Besides the curriculum students are also encouraged to take projects in fields of advanced manufacturing, solar energy, rapid prototyping, energy management, computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer.

Mechanical engineering is synonymous with the revolution in technology, which began with the invention of the steam engine by James Watt. The industrial revolution provided riches and comfort to the people. Mechanical engineers have created everything from pins to planes, including commercial and fighter planes, simple agricultural equipment tractors to bullock carts to all types of contemporary cars and trains, and simple boats to large ships and submarines. Mechanical engineers are accountable for the design and creation of all modern technologies, including rockets, space vehicles, multi-task missiles, battle tanks, sophisticated weapons, robots, different kinds of power plants, air conditioners, and more. Mechanical Engineers are required in every sector, with demand ranging from 40% to 80%.Mechanical engineering plays a significant role in whatever product we choose, whether it be mechanical, electrical, or electronic. Mechanical Engineering is known as an Evergreen Branch of Engineering due to Mechanical Engineers’ extensive involvement in numerous businesses and organizations.

Scope of Mechanical Engineering

A wide range of careers in mechanical engineering as well as other multidisciplinary fields like materials engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering, biomedical engineering, environmental pollution control, computer sciences, robotics, and management require the analytical and experimental skills that the mechanical engineering discipline aims to impart. The Department has taken on the issue of meeting the complicated technical needs of the world and has built up all the facilities necessary for providing good training to address the challenges of the twenty-first century. We are currently developing our areas of expertise in material testing, CAD, and CAM.
